Notion & NCAD: Lighting Project
March 10th, 2010As we’ve blogged, tweeted and facebooked in the past: we have been collaborating with the National College of Art & Design (NCAD), Dublin to create and guide projects for the 2nd and 3rd year groups. On Friday the 5th of February we closed out a 2 phase project with the 2nd year group.
The project, Formal Literacy, aims to arm the students with an understanding and appreciation of 3D form. The theories of proportion, dimensioning, surfaces and repeating pattern are all explored in the first phase as the group work through sculptural form. In the second phase these principles are reigned-in as we challenged the group to translate their exploration into a light fixture.
The results were intriguing, interesting and all-too flammable…. Photos after the jump…
