We are packing our bags all over again – feeling a little like we just fully recovered from Milan 2015 we are now bringing the next development in our collaboration with Mourne Textiles to NYCxDesign where it will show at the second installation of the Liminal show for ID2015 at WantedDesign Manhattan.
Given that we fly in under 24 hours and nothing is actually packed yet, including half of the work which will go on show, I won’t go into too much detail on what we have been up to since our time at the Salone in April. Our aim for the initial output from the collaboration was to give contemporary context to the Mourne Check and Mourne Mist fabrics which featured on the pieces. Given that they were designed in 1951 and they sat so comfortably in the setting of Milan 2015 we felt that this was achieved.
There was always an underlying feeling that the work shown in Milan, while we were delighted with it, was on occasion taking itself just that bit too seriously.
In the short time since our return we have turned our attention to play. There was always an underlying feeling that the work shown in Milan, while we were delighted with it, was on occasion taking itself just that bit too seriously. To remedy that we have spent our time playing with and exploring the Mourne fabrics as much as possible.
What we will show at NYCxDesign is the outcome of this play. It is the second output from our collaboration which only continues to get more enjoyable, and hopefully more lighthearted as it progresses. You can see some of the results in the images below.
We will be in New York from tomorrow Wednesday 13th until Sunday 18th. If you are around and what to say hello please feel free to get in touch.
